Today at NameJet, the domain name SandNigger.com is ending at auction. The expression refers to someone of middle eastern or Arabic background. Its a clear “hate” domain and is incredibly offensive to anyone familiar to the term. So what does that mean for its saleability? Its currently at $370 with less than an hour remaining of bid time and there are 20 bidders.

I’m not sure about any of the other bidders, but this is one domain I’d prefer not to own. I joined the auction only because I wanted to know what kind of money the domain would fetch. Will the new owner use the domain name to propagate more hate? Unlikely. Odds are this will fall into a domainers collection but it still makes me uneasy to know that someone will be paying a fair amount of money for a domain with such hate behind it. I can only hope the new owner decides to put a positive spin on the domain by redirecting it to a cultural awareness site.

SandNigger.com closed at $840, personally I think every penny that NameJet/Network Solutions makes on this domain name, should be donated to a group like Tolerance.org
