.biz Generics, dropping like flies
The .biz TLD went live on March 23, 2002. Thats when the best keywords were taken like sex.biz, poker.biz, ect. Its not suprise that each year around this time, .biz domains seem to be dropping like flies. Many of the original registrants forget to renew or simply dont want to. Over the past few days several great .biz domain names have made there way to a few of the drop auciton houses like NameJet and TDNAM. Here are a few of the sales from today on NameJet:
- Paris.biz - $3,533
- Calculators.biz - $815
- BusinessCards.biz - $1,121
- Detroit.biz - $5,000
Although .biz has never been a strong extension, were seeing some decent sales. The only problem is these are some of the premium keywords in the extension. This may suggest that .biz multi word keywords that arent generic/common wont fetch well. My recommendation would be to stay away from anything that isnt a super premium in this TLD.

Detroit.biz appears to have been reclaimed by it’s old owner, as well as several other premium .biz domains that were on TDNAM.
