Aparthotels.com sells for $27,100 - on NameJet

May 22nd, 2008

This domain name caught on with some serious bidding, driving it upwards of nearly $30,000 dollars. A bit surprising while many of the big timers are spending there days at TRAFFIC in Orlando, FL.  On another interesting note - those .mobi lovers out there, Aparthotels.mobi is avail. Lets see if it remains that way.

  1. This sale makes absolutely no sense. We would not even register this name. Any thoughts on why this name is worth more than reg fee….

  2. Alan,

Ive spent much of the morning, trying to figure this domain name out. I believe its primarily used in Europe, and is a combination between Hotel/Apartment. Im not sure what the search volume on this keyword is, but clearly some people thought it was worth it.

  3. Justin,

I never question an end user who pays any amount for any domain since the prices for domains today are pennies compared to traditional marketing budgets and will always pay out for the buyer if the business works, but as I (and you) have said before most domains get sold and end up parked - no logic with this one.

Hope it went to an end user but odds are it did not.

    Thanks for the info.

  4. Yes at least it’s used in France.
It’s a combination of apartment and hotels.
I was not aware of the sale, a great name.

  6. This sale makes absolutely no sense. We would not even register this name - the value is determined by the buyer.

    Great NEWS

  7. I registered apthotels(,)com. “apt” is an abbreviation for apartment. Check out the google results for the string “apartment apt”. A keeper??

  8. Jason,

I think you did well. Ironically, I registered an ApartHotels not long ago either - GreenApartHotels.com. I figured I’d try to angle the Eco effect.
