NameJet does the right Thing
June 17th, 2008I want to tip my hat to NameJet, I know I have moaned about them in the past, but this time they did something right by me. I had entered into some auctions where I wasn’t the winning bidder. After I lose, I move on. Well, apparently it doesn’t work like that. When the winning bidder defaulted, the domains went back to auction weeks later, with me as the winning bidder without even realizing it.
I got dinged for 13 domain purchases that I did not want or need (as money had been allocated elsewhere). I didn’t realize at the time what was going on and submitted a ticket with my complaint.
I was surprised to hear this morning that they would refund the domain names that were “won” in this manner as a one time courtesy.
Again, I thank Elisha. It was a slow process via ticket, but it appears she got the job done.

I have a theory:
namejet themself bids up the auction, they actually win, they then give it to the 2nd highest bidder, you.
And you win and pay.

Eric,
I had thought the same, in fact. I had made an accusation of Shill bidding by NameJet, however I believe the story the rep is telling me and it makes sense.

I recently was surprisingly thrust into a NameJet auction when a mysterious bidder seemed to appear out of nowhere for a domain name that had expired several months earlier. It was a weekend and the mysterious bidder did not bid. Nor did I and I received notice that I won the auction and they (Network Solutions) debited my charge card. The following day they locked my account and credited my charge card. Subsequently they re-auctioned the domain name. Guess they forgot to bid against me as the auction was over the weekend and $69 was not enough….….
