one man's meat another man's poison

Maybe some billionaire domainer comes from a medical background, and thus this domain means a lot to him. And to that billionaire domainer, 26k was peanuts. :)

I like the way you think, Kelly.

Is it possible to get good deals on Namejet any more? Seems like all good names are fully valued, at least from a domainer POV.

If I was better at selling to end users..(if any of us were..) we could convince John Hopkins to pony up the price of tuition for one student - 6 years, for this domain and explain how they could target potential employers for their graduating class by putting up banner ads on their site etc...
ohhh the myriad of possibilities....

Toxicology testing seems pretty popular. I hear it daily with medical related news stories on dead people, people who are arrested etc.

I'm sure in the right hands, Toxicology.com could do well but I'm sure it's hard to send "samples" online, so I can see what Justin is talking about.

I still like the domain... at $26K? I guess if you have the bucks to spend. ;)

Kelly,

Im not suggesting its not a good domain name. I simply don't believe it warranted a 26,000 price tag. With more digging around, I do see that the most common advertising for the term is to become a toxologist, however I still believe the price was more then double what it should have been.

"At best, there are several books with the words “Toxicology” in it"

Better tell that to John Hopkins University School of public Health and all the other Institutions of Higher Learning handing out Doctorates in Toxicology!

Besides the fields of nanotechnology, rare isotopes, pharmacology etc... toxicology was mentioned in the news 4,115 times today.

I think it was a bargain!

I agree with you - this was a poor choice of a domain to spend over $26k on. There's very little commercial value here.

David,

Couldnt disagree more. This isnt a consumer good or even a consumer service. At best, there are several books with the words "Toxicology" in it, but quite honestly I dont see the owner making their money back on this one. Google results arent everything, and when the top google result is Wikipedia - it becomes questionable about the possible usage, and who is in fact using it.
