Daily Market Report for June 11th – Cirina.com sold for $7,500

The top sale of the day was cirina.com which sold for $7,500 at Sedo. NameBio recorded 180 sales for a total of $139,886 with an average sale price of $777. Compared to the previous day there was an increase of 3% in the number of sales but the total dollar amount decreased by 1%.

44477.com sold for $7,000 at NameJet. It’s not every day you see a five-number .com as the second highest sale of the day, especially not one with so many fours. But the pattern makes this one memorable and thus valuable. It last sold at Sedo on April 29th and the owner was able to take $2,400 profit off the table.

Daily Market Report for June 10th – FengMai.com sold for $8,950

The top sale of the day was FengMai.com which sold for $8,950 at DropCatch. NameBio recorded 173 sales for a total of $138,729 with an average sale price of $802. Compared to the previous day there was an increase of 7% in the number of sales but the total dollar amount decreased by 15%.

Feng Mai appears to be a first and last name combination, I can’t find anything else in Google or Pinyin translators indicating it has another meaning.

Edit: KC left a great comment below explaining the meaning of Feng Mai. Thanks KC!

There were three typos of GMail that closed for four figures which was disappointing to see.

Daily Market Report for June 9th – Vinous.com sold for $25,000

Sedo had the top four sales yesterday and also had the top sale for two days in a row. The top sale of the day was vinous.com which sold for $25,000. NameBio recorded 160 sales for a total of $161,224 with an average sale price of $1,008. Compared to the previous day there was a decrease of 4% in the number of sales and the total dollar amount decreased by 7%.

Vinous is a word meaning “of, relating to, or made with wine” and there are a number of end users who would consider this an upgrade. The WHOIS hasn’t changed yet from the previous owner in Korea who picked it up in April 2011 when it expired. The domain was originally created in January of 2000.

Daily Market Report for June 8th – NKB.com sold for $31,000

Sedo had the top two sales yesterday. The top sale of the day was NKB.com which sold for $31,000 followed by 5082.com at $14,500 and Mable.com at $7,100. NameBio recorded 163 sales for a total of $162,548 with an average sale price of $997. Compared to the previous day there was an increase of 46% in the number of sales and the total dollar amount increased by 129%.

Mable caught my attention because it’s not every day you see a first name domain up for auction. We wrote an article back in April showing what other first name domains have sold for, and based on that a reasonable price seemed to be $1 per person who had that name in the US.

The census data shows more than 60k people named Mable which means the domain sold for closer to 1/10th of that number. It seems to be a solid buy despite it being a name you might expect to hear on the Andy Griffith Show, and it was also a 3x flip for the previous owner.

Daily Market Report for June 7th – GameStars.com sold for $8,988

The top sale of the day was gamestars.com which sold for $8,988 at NameJet. NameBio recorded 110 sales for a total of $63,539 with an average sale price of $578. Compared to the previous day there was a decrease of 22% in the number of sales and the total dollar amount decreased by 24%.

In an unusual turn of events the top sale of the day is in English. Game Stars is a great brand in a huge industry, short, memorable, passes the radio test and impossible to misspell.  Everything you look for in a quality domain. Mado seemed a little on the low side, but I guess the “mad” part hurt it a bit.

Daily Market Report for June 6th – FangKai.com sold for $9,150

The top sale of the day was fangkai.com which sold for $9,150 at DropCatch. NameBio recorded 141 sales for a total of $84,131 with an average sale price of $597. Compared to the previous day there was a decrease of 21% in the number of sales and the total dollar amount decreased by 54%.

A Chinese word took the top spot for the second day in a row leaving me out of my depth again. This seems to be a first name, a slang word for cool, or Pinyin for release or unleash (放开). In more apparently Chinese action yunjuhe.com was auctioned for the third time at DropCatch, it first sold for $2,220 and then for $775 with the winning bidder not paying, now it’s back up to $1,950. We’ll see if the third time’s the charm.

Daily Market Report for June 5th – Baotou.com sold for $61,801

NameJet had the top two sales yesterday, as well as the top sale of the day for two days in a row. The top sale of the day was baotou.com which sold for $61,801. NameBio recorded 178 sales for a total of $183,944 with an average sale price of $1,033. Compared to the previous day there was an increase of 21% in the number of sales and the total dollar amount increased by 46%.

Baotou is a city in Mongolia with more than two million people living there, and it also has some Pinyin uses although I won’t pretend to know anything about that. If anyone knows please post in the comments. Other than the Geo angle it doesn’t seem to have commercial Pinyin uses, but tou bao (backwards) seems to be related to insurance.

As a big fan of short domains it is nice to see PJ.org sell for almost triple what it did two years ago. I sold my only LL.org for $9k about nine months ago and it was of similar quality. FCJ.net is a nice reminder that we don’t know what a good combination is any more when it comes to a Chinese buyer, it was flipped for almost triple as well but in less than three months time.

NameJet had seven of the top ten sales, and it also had the top five sales yesterday. The top sale of the day was 6820.com which sold for $16,920 followed by NoseJobs.com at $15,000 and Cyclists.com at $12,100. Daily Market Report for June 3rd – LYS.com sold for $45,006

This is the second day in a row that Sedo took the top spot with a large three-letter .com sale. The top sale of the day was lys.com which sold for $45,006. NameBio recorded 157 sales for a total of $202,392 with an average sale price of $1,289. Compared to the previous day there was an increase of 1% in the number of sales and the total dollar amount increased by 41%.

NameJet also put up another big LLL.com sale with SDU.com at $30,100. We can see the decline of the long-tail, exact-match domain with the sale of EarnADegreeOnline.com which sold for a mere $510 at NameJet, quite a ways off from its $4,300 sale in 2010 at the same venue. AdWords Keyword Planner reports only 170 searches per month but a whopping $38.64 CPC.
