The Domain Game Has Arrived on Android!

Five months ago we launched The Domain Game in the Apple App Store. Since then more than 500 players have joined in the fun, and we have served up nearly 350,000 questions. Today we are thrilled to announce the game is live on the Google Play store for both phones and tablets!

What the heck took so long?!

Interest in the game has far exceeded my expectations, but it was still a tough decision to bring the game to Android. I originally created the game as an excuse to learn iOS development, and it was something that I wanted to play myself.

I didn’t expect many other people to be interested, but since launching we received a constant stream of requests for an Android version. Given that it is a free game with no advertisements and targets a very niche industry, we needed to give it careful consideration before spending the thousands of dollars it would take to re-create it.

I’m sorry that it has taken so long, but the wait is finally over! Android users will have to play a little harder to catch up on the leaderboard, but if you play well I think you can still make the Top 10 within a week.

A Special Thanks

A special thanks goes to Adam Strong for footing the bill, and to the team at Magnetic Studios for doing a great job on the Android version and for finishing more than a week ahead of schedule. If you need an app created I highly recommend them.

What are you waiting for?

Go download the game! Registration is optional but it allows you to have your name and picture on the leaderboard, and also to maintain your score across devices. We also occasionally do prize drawings, but only registered users are eligible to win.

Or if you’re an iOS user reading this for some reason 🙂

I’m sorry to hear that. The app was tested on seven different phones and two tablets, all with different versions of Android. Could you let me know what device you’re using and what OS you have? I’ll pass it along to the developers.

If anyone else has a problem please let me know in the comments or via our Contact page, and include the device and OS version. Based on all of the testing I expect this is a very isolated issue.

I know we already discussed this via email, but so others know as well, there was an issue affecting a small number of Android versions. The developers figured out the problem and pushed out a new release today which fixes it. Thanks for reporting this to us and I hope you enjoy the game!
