Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any restrictions for reporting?

We are only accepting reports of sales $100+. There are no limits regarding the date of the sale, we are interested in the data no matter how old it is. Please search first to make sure we don't already have the sale though.

What kind of proof is needed?

A screenshot showing the domain, price, and date. This could be from Escrow.com, Afternic, Sedo, DAN, PayPal, or whatever you used to close the transaction. You can black out the contact details of the other party, but please do not remove transaction ID numbers or similar.

If you closed the transaction with a direct bank transfer, we would need to see the deposit from your bank, and also the email negotiations that led to the sale.

Can I report payment plans?

Only if all payments have been made and the domain has been transferred.

How do I report IDN or emoji domains?

Please report them only in xn-- format, without special characters.

Can I put my own portfolio site as the venue?

Yes, you can list your own site as the venue, even if the transaction happened somewhere else. If we already picked up the sale through our own tracking we will not change the venue name for you though.

Should the price be Gross or Net?

You should put the price that the buyer paid, not the amount that you received after commissions or fees.

What should I put for the date?

If the sale closed within the past week, please put today's date. That way it can show up in the Daily Market Report and get more attention. Otherwise please put the date that the sale agreement was reached, not the date that it closed.

Do I need permission from the other party?

No, as long as you haven't signed an NDA, but it is still a good idea to ask. Once the report is accepted, we will not remove it for any reason. So if the other party finds out and complains, you accept full responsibility.

Can I report sales that other people made?

No, you can only report sales that you were a party to. If you see someone discussing a sale on NamePros, Twitter, Facebook, private groups, podcasts, etc. please don't report it here. Instead, encourage the person to report it to us.
